I blame [personal profile] delphi, for reminding me that Vertigo was squeaking in on a technicality, and making this inescapable.

"I mistook you for my brother," said the woman. "For a moment. The robes. The hair." She sat on his workbench and folded her legs under her, all black jeans and black Doc Martens and teased black hair, and black eyeliner in spades.

Snape crossed his arms and stared at her. She was, he thought, someone he knew, or should know, a constant presence just on the edge of his consciousness.

"So," said the woman cheerfully. "Death Eater. That's kinky."

"Not particularly," muttered Snape.

She shrugged. "Depends on how you perceive Death," she said. She picked up one of the bottles of the potion he had brewed that morning, and inspected it, reading the label aloud. "'Dreamless Sleep'. Maybe I shouldn't introduce you to my brother after all," she said. "I don't think you'd get along."

Snape said nothing; he didn't feel that failing to get along with someone was a situation of sufficient novelty to warrant comment.

"Does this work?" she said, holding up the bottle.

"Of course it works," said Snape, irritated. "I brewed it."

"It's strange," she said. "That you'd go to such great lengths to avoid my brother, when we're going to be such good friends."

Aha, excellent! There really aren't enough Sandman/HP crossovers in the world.
