Author's notes: Team Cauldron!
Severus had nurtured the Oblivious Unction long evenings, patiently brewing its components, adding precise variations. For Draco, it must be perfect. This night was the last, most delicate phase. He had skipped supper. Albus would understand. They wanted to save the boy what they could.
Some intrepid Gryffindor rapped on his door, telling tales again. Goyle had taken his sweets again. Entitled, he pushed on the door.
Severus risked a half-second glance from the creation in his cauldron to look for the flash of a shining white head, like his father's, his grandfather's. Not seeing it, he snarled.
"Get Out!"

A gross of words to explain 100
Date: 2009-05-16 03:54 am (UTC)Unfortunately, I think I must regard this drabble as a failure.
Lets see if I can explain it in less than 100 words (apparently not...)
The Oblivious Unction is not quite oblivion but is meant to heal scars to one's soul left by dark thought, either another's or one's own. So this potion is for Draco in sixth year, injuring his soul in fear for his father, with darkness left by the Dark Lord and Draco's own deeds. The white head for which Severus is looking is Draco's, like Luci's, like Abraxas'. Draco is the only interuption Severus would welcome, because of his concern and care, not just for Narcissa, but for Draco, Luci, Dumbledore - everyone. Albus only appears as Severus assumes his tacit approval. They fear for him, and Severus is brewing this special potion. The drabble is also supposed to show Severus' various reactions to those he views as frivolous and those he is inclined to regard seriously, for whatever reason.
