snape100 #280: The Lusty Month of May
I have something to discuss with you, Charity had told Severus at breakfast. Fifteen minutes past breakfast, Severus had met Charity outside the castle grounds and found himself being Side-Along Apparated to a lush green glade far from the madding magical and muggle crowds.
"Happy May Day, Severus," whispered Charity.
"It's the third," he whispered into her mouth.
"Near as no matter," she murmured when, after some long seconds, they parted. "I thought Saturday preferable to Thursday for a day away from the school."
"Certainly more discreet than both of us cancelling an entire day's classes." Severus kissed her again.

He awoke on a bed of soft grass, lying on his back beneath new leaves dotting a brilliant blue sky.
They'd begun on a blanket. It must be somewhere nearby. There had been wine, and bread, and honey.
Severus smirked.
Charity, sleeping curled into his side, began to stir. "Let's come back next May," she murmured into his skin.
Severus stared into the sky. Let's be thankful we have today. He put the thought away so she wouldn't see, and he rolled onto his side. Gazing warmly into Charity's eyes, he embraced her, thinking only of this moment, this day.
